National Sporting Guidelines
Sporting Facilities Guidelines for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ministry of Sport
My Role
Coordination Lead
Purpose
The KSA Sports Facility Guidelines provide a unified, scalable framework for the planning, design, and operation of sports facilities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The objective was to ensure technical and operational consistency across 33 priority sports, creating a reference tool that could be understood by both technical specialists and non-technical stakeholders.
The Problem
Prior to this initiative, sports facility development in the KSA lacked a cohesive set of standards. Disparate design approaches, varied technical requirements, and inconsistent communication formats created inefficiencies, increased costs, and hampered stakeholder alignment.
Project Objectives
Standardise design and operational guidelines for 33 sports
Translate complex, discipline-specific data into accessible, visual content
Ensure guidelines are applicable for both new builds and refurbishments
Provide a governance-aligned framework that supports long-term sports development strategy
